Rene has extensive experience in the fields of analytical, organic, and natural products chemistry. He is an expert in chemical analyses, structure elucidation, and instrumentation such as chromatography (HPLC, GC) and spectroscopy (NMR, MS, IR, UV-Vis). He is a member of the American Chemical Society and Integrated Chemists of the Philippines.
He has rendered technical guidance and support for numerous cases including:
- Contamination in chemical cargoes (Styrene, MEG, methanol, p-xylene, olefins, base oil, etc.)
- Fuel quality disputes
- Corrosive cargoes (sulphur, salt, etc.)
- Cargo tank and hold coatings, damage and protection
- Bulk cargo liquefaction (Nickel ore, bauxite, iron ore fines, manganese ore fines)
- Cement and clinker
- Bulk edible grains
- Contamination in food and dairy products
